“It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving”
Mother Teresa
In mid-April I was inspired by a Webinar from Time Slips to create a Zoom class for the community at Rumriver Art Center. This class would inspire the students to create postcards for the folks at Lyngblomsten Senior housing. The Webinar encouraged people to create postcards with beautiful art and a word or beautiful question. A beautiful question is something that takes the reader to a different place, such as “what was your favorite toy as a child?” The goal was to bring some joy to folks who were shut in and to take their mind off of the pandemic.
In
early May thirty people attended the postcard making Zoom class! I want to thank each and every one of those
postcard artists! We received so many
beautiful cards, 157 cards to be exact!
I addressed 75 of those cards to specific people in the care
center. The other cards will go to the
apartments to be handed out.
The cards were so beautiful, and heart felt. Some had personal messages, others had a beautiful question and there were blank ones that left room for messages to be written upon.
Every artist put their own creative touches on the cards. The variety was amazing, and I know the folks at Lyngblomsten will be so happy to receive these gifts from those who created them.
To have someone care enough to spend time creating a card and a message for someone they do not know is an amazing gift. I can’t thank the artists enough for sharing their gifts with others as I know it brought joy.
I am sure these cards made people’s heart sing!
I dropped the cards off at Lyngblomsten on Friday. I know they were excited to have them delivered as people really needed some cheering up. Again, I just want to thank all the artists who brought a little love and joy to others. You are all angels. Peace to you all.
If anyone wants to make postcards, there is a video on the blog that can help inspire you. Once the cards are created, they can drop them off at Rumriver Art Center and we can deliver them for you, or you can call a senior housing near you and see if they might want to have some for their residents.
I have gathered a variety of the cards to show you how creative we all are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
