Artist: Picasso Thanksgiving Turkey

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I like to go  through my turkey projects. One of the most fun and creative projects is the Picasso Turkey. Pablo Picasso (1881 – 1973) was one of the most prolific artists ever, and one of his many contributions was the co-founding cubism, the idea of looking at something from different angles. We use Picasso way at looking at the turkey from different angles in this project. I am always surprised to see what is created.
Materials: Small piece of 140lb watercolor paper, Sharpie, Watercolor pencils and paint

Step #1: Draw a turkey eye  near the center of the paper.

Step #2: Rotate the paper 90 degrees clockwise and draw another turkey eye.

Step #3: Rotate the paper 90 degrees clockwise and draw a turkey beak.

Step #4: Rotate the paper another 90 degrees and draw the turkey beard.

Step #5: Rotate the paper 90 degrees and draw the turkey tail feathers.

Step #6: Rotate the paper 90 degrees and draw the turkey foot.
Step #7: Now take a look at your drawing form several different directions and find one you like. Its time to connect all the turkey parts into a whole.
Step #9: Use your choice of materials to finish the Picasso Turkey. I like use a combination of watercolor and oil pastels for this project.
Step #10: I like using small piece of paper so I try several attempts, so now lets try it again.
