Call for Artists – Holiday Show and Shop

The applications for Rumriver Art Center’s annual Holiday Show and Shop are open! Every year, we transform our galleries and common area into a five-week-long art market that features dozens of local artists. We encourage all artists, crafters, and makers who create items that will make great holiday gifts to apply. There is no application fee!

The Holiday Show and Shop is open from November 15th, 2025, to December 20th, 2025, at Rumriver Art Center. The market will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 am – 3 pm. Any extended hours will be listed on our website.

Timeline:

  • Applications Close: Friday, October 3rd by 11:59 pm.
  • All Artists Notified: Friday, October 17th by 11:59 pm.
  • Artwork Drop Off: Tuesday, November 11th between 11 am and 7 pm.
    Show & Shop Opening: Saturday, November 15th from 10 am – 4 pm.
  • Show & Shop Closes: Saturday, December 20th, 2025.
    Artwork Pick Up: Artwork must be picked up on Friday, January 2nd between 12 pm and 6:30 pm OR Monday, January 5th between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm. ALL artwork must be picked up by 2:30 pm on January 5th.

Required Application Materials:

Complete and submit all required information on the application form by Friday, October 17th at 11:59 pm. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Completed Application Form –

  • Applications must be submitted electronically to be accepted.
  • If contributing artists exceed expectations, the Rumriver Art Center (RRAC) reserves the right to close applications early.
  • There is no application fee.

Images of artwork – 

  • The artist must upload a minimum of 3 images of the artwork they wish to sell.
  • Files MUST be named with the applicant’s last name and first initial and a one to three word description of the artwork (Example: JohnsonL_Earrings, JohnsonL_BlueNecklace, JohnsonL_RedNecklace)
  • Please submit well lit images featuring only the artwork. Blurry, cluttered, and poorly lit images will NOT be used in press materials.

Overview of items for sale – 

  • Artists must list the medium/type of artwork.
  • Artists will be asked to clarify if they will bring their own display furniture or if they would like Rumriver Art Center to use the display materials RRAC has.
  • Provide an approximate price range.
    • ALL items in the Holiday Show and Shop must be for sale.
  • Approximate number of items.
    • PLEASE NOTE: Artists may not have more than 50 items for sale.

  • All ages can apply! We are a community art center and believe that you can be an artist at any age. 
  • All items in the Holiday Show and Shop MUST BE FOR SALE.
  • All artwork intended to be hung on a wall must be wired.
  • Artists may not remove their artwork earlier than 12 pm on Friday, January 2nd OR later than 2:30 pm on Monday, January 5th.
  • Rumriver Art Center will take a 35% commission on the sale price of any artwork sold during the Holiday Show and Shop. All sales are final.
    • Checks will be written within 14 days after the Holiday Show and Shop closes.
  • All artwork must be dropped off and picked up in-person.
    • Rumriver Art Center does not accept mailed artwork, nor ship artwork back to participating artists.
  • Reproduction of Images for Publicity – Permission is granted to the Rumriver Art Center for reproduction of artwork for advertising purposes. Entry into the exhibit constitutes agreement with this rule. Images of artwork may be used for flyers, press releases, posters, on the Rumriver Art Center website (rumriverart.com), social media, etc. 
  • The importance of making human connections through the physical process of creating art is invaluable. As a community-focused arts organization, we will not accept artwork that is made using Artificial Intelligence or AI Image Generators. 

Liability:

All reasonable care will be taken with artwork. Rumriver Art Center staff and volunteers cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to artwork including frames and mountings, no matter how damage/loss is caused. All entries submitted are subject to this condition. Rumriver Art Center has an excellent record in the care and handling of works of art. We suggest that artists insure work privately if they feel the need for such protection.

The following will result in the rejection of your application:

  • Failure to adhere to the provided application guidelines.
  • Incomplete application.
  • Harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate actions towards any Rumriver Art Center staff.
  • Submitted work is made using Artificial Intelligence or AI Image Generators. 

Detailed Timeline:

The Holiday Show and Shop is open from Saturday, November 15th to Saturday, December 20th, 2025. The market will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 am – 3 pm. Occasionally we may have extended hours, which will be listed on our website (www.rumriverart.com).

  • Complete application and submit artwork images by Friday, October 3rd by 11:59 pm.
  • Artists are notified as to which of their artwork(s) is accepted into the show by Friday, October 17th by 11:59 pm.
  • Artwork must be dropped on Tuesday, November 11th between 11 am and 7 pm (2665 4th Ave. Suite 103, Anoka, MN).
  • Show and Shop opens Saturday, November 15th at Rumriver Art Center.
  • Show and Shop ends on Saturday, December 20th.
  • Artists pick up their artwork at Rumriver Art Center on Friday, January 2nd between 12 pm – 6:30 pm or on Monday, January 5th between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm.
