Come join teaching artists Heather Barr and Makilyn Koep in this specialty workshop focusing on Western Raku techniques. This two-day workshop covers both throwing forms inspired by traditional Raku as well as the process and finishing techniques of firing the pots with a Raku kiln. The first day will focus on throwing pots on the pottery wheel and finishing the forms in preparation for firing. Pots will then be bisque fired and the second class will be glazing wares, firing and finishing. Participants will be able to fire up to three pots completed during the first day of the workshop. All materials will be provided in the class fee. Participants should have some experience throwing on the potter’s wheel and should be able to center clay as the throwing demonstrations will focus on form and not beginning throwing lessons. This class is geared for kids ages 16 and older and adults. Make it a family event!
