We’re thrilled to welcome Nicole Grove to our teaching team this Fall! She’s bringing two beautiful opportunities to connect, move, and grow in community:
- Come and See: Community Singing – Mondays starting Sept 29 • 6:30–7:30pm
In the video below, Nicole shares a simple, sweet song as a glimpse of this new offering. All are welcome — whether you’ve sung for years or just in the shower, you’ll be guided with warmth and joy every step of the way. Song credit: Sarah Nutting of MaMuse
2. Mindful Movement – Wednesdays starting Oct 1 • 9:30–10:30am
Nicole blends yoga, Qigong, Pilates, and gentle strength training into grounding classes designed to reconnect body, mind, and heart.
Q&A with Nicole on Mindful Movement
Q: What will this class be like? Is it a yoga class? I’ve been to one of those before and it wasn’t for me.
A: My number one goal is to help people reconnect with their bodies. We spend so much time lost in thought and completely unaware of what’s happening inside. To help you ground in the present moment, in your body, we’ll move our bodies. Some movements will be yoga-esque, but I wouldn’t call this a yoga class. We’ll stretch, rotate our joints, balance (you can use a chair for support), twist, shake, squat, and do neuroplasticity exercises to stimulate the brain, and core work. It’ll be more gentle than strenuous, while at the same time offering a challenge. It’s all about coming home to the body, which feels amazing.
Q: With all that’s going on in the world, I feel scattered, stressed, and stuck. Can you help?
A: You’re not alone in feeling that way. And absolutely. I’m a certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher as well as a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Coach. I’ll help you feel safe and seen, and I’ll weave tidbits of wisdom into the instruction that will help you navigate your emotional landscape. And this class will be a well-deserved, and essential, break from the news. We can all benefit from that!
Q: Will there be dancing? I don’t dance.
A: I promise to honor everyone’s comfort zone. We’ll only ever dance if I know that ALL participants will feel safe and comfortable with it. So if you’re coming for the first time, definitely no dancing.
Q: Will there be meditation?
A: Yep. Every class will end with ten minutes or so of guided stillness. Many report that it’s their favorite part.
Q: That all sounds nice, but I’m still not sure what to expect. I like to know what I’m getting myself into, especially if I’m going to be working out with other people.
A: I understand completely. I think you’ll like it. Maybe even love it. Only one way to find out. Come and see.
