With the passing of a passionate artist and student of RRAC, Mona Hughes, we are proud to be able to help aid families for their creative kids to attend summer camps at Rumriver Art Center with your help.
“Mona loved to paint, that doesn’t mean it was her absolute favorite part of RRAC… she took a variety of classes including mixed media, watercolor, acrylic and printing. It was a great place for her after retirement” – John (Mona’s husband)
The scholarship funds raised will be used towards families that otherwise would not be able to pay for their kids to attend our summer programming. Mona was vibrant part of our Vitality Arts community and will continue her legacy through this scholarship fund.

Mona’s Peers at RRAC Remember Mona
Mona had a dry wit that added such sparkle to our Open Studio sessions. It helped me keep my perspective on my work — “it’s just paint” she’d seem to say. “Have some fun with it.”
Mona had a style of her own — unique ideas and execution. We loved seeing what she tried next — new techniques, differing objects as models, new locations. Her individuality helped us all keep seeking our own styles.
Though quiet and focused, Mona was a big presence in our Open Studio group. We miss working and growing together with her through our art.
