Adult Art Classes

Plein air painting is painting outdoors. Paul Boecher will lead Plein Air Club members through plein air paintings at various places in the area. This is a great opportunity for beginners to the more accomplished. If you always wanted to learn how to paint outdoors this is your opportunity. A table top and easel will be provided. Participants must bring all other materials/supplies. Plein Air painters can use acrylic, oil or watercolor paint on canvas board or paper.

Acrylic paint is a very forgiving medium. Through the four week course students will learn the tools and techniques to be able to grow as artists. Students will learn the fundamentals of acrylic painting on a variety of painting surfaces. Through thoughtful instruction the individual student will choose a comfortable style to express their inner artist. Each session will allow the individual to work at their own pace and develop the skills needed to have fun and continue to paint and connect with other artists.

GOLDEN Lecture Demo

Throughout this two-hour presentation, you will hear tons of information about a variety of GOLDEN acrylics and the inherent possibilities of acrylic materials. Extensive information about acrylic paints, gels and mediums is presented, including OPEN and High Flow acrylics. OPEN is designed to stay wet longer than other acrylic paints, allowing for more control over drying time, and High Flow is highly pigmented and ink like in consistency. See how acrylic paints and gels mix together, as well as several examples of materials in a variety of applications. Learn to extend your paint to save yourself money and how to mix gels with paints to create gorgeous textures and surfaces to paint on. See examples of QoR, GOLDEN's watercolor paint and some luscious colors of Willamsburg Oils. Open to all levels of painting experience. Information packets and free samples provided for all attending. Free. Registration required.

All About Acrylics
Are you interested in learning as much as you can about acrylics, the most versatile of all paint materials? Spend the day working with different acrylic paint formulas - Heavy Body, Fluids and High Flow, and a variety of acrylic gels, molding pastes and mediums to build texture, create glazes, and extend paint. Become familiar with new surfaces to work on and see how the paint responds to each surface for a different feeling. Clear explanations of all materials used will be presented. Open to all levels of painting experience. All paints, gels and mediums provided.
Bring to class: Favorite synthetic paintbrushes a variety of sizes, palette knives, palette for paint, rags or paper towels, water container, 2 - 8" x 10" or 9" x 12" gessoed canvases or other gessoed surfaces to work on, Sharpie marker and a sense of adventure. .
